Hello junior players and their families,
We are excited to announce Tennis Manitoba will be hosting tryouts for the 2023 Tennis Manitoba Provincial Team!
Aref Jallali, a Tennis Canada National Coach, will oversee the program as advisor to the coaches and players. Coach Jallali will be in Winnipeg for at least 3 out of the 10 monthly sessions, the first being the tryouts weekend. He will be on court with players and coaches providing his expertise. As well, coach Jallali will be available off court for all involved in the program – coaches will benefit from professional development opportunities while players will have a chance to be guided by one of our country’s top coaches.
This team will be led by head coach Jared Connell with assistants Monika Popovic and Seif Dhaoui. All high-performance coaches in MB are invited to attend the monthly training sessions. This is a unique opportunity for selected players and coaches to come together once per month during the 10-month program. Players will learn to train and play with a purpose and accountability while learning the value of hard work.
During these sessions, players will have the chance to compete against one another, gaining valuable experience and exposure to different playing styles. While participating in this program, players will continue their regular training at their respective clubs with their coaches while benefiting from the guidance of coach Aref Jallali and the rest of the coaching staff.
Tryout information:
Friday, August 11th, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00pm at Tennis MB Hub @ Deer Lodge (2050 Ness Ave)
PLAYERS WILL BE SELECTED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE TRYOUT AND ASKED TO ATTEND THE FOLLOWING DAY’S SESSION. TIME FOR THE SECOND SESSION WILL BE ANNOUNCED FRIDAY EVENING
During these tryouts, our coaches will be looking for players who demonstrate a combination of consistency, athletic abilities, strong technique, dedicated effort, and a positive attitude.
