In Manitoba’s university tennis scene, Hlib Bohach, Magnus Gnilo, Jacob Yee and Gurjosh Singh emerged this February as dynamic forces, captivating audiences with their skill on the court and their remarkable teamwork.

Their impressive performances in the Prairie Regional tournament in Edmonton, Alberta, have established them as local role models for aspiring university tennis players.

Hlib Bohach and Magnus Gnilo, the top doubles team, have set the standard with their exceptional bond and competitive spirit. Their recent doubles success against the University of Calgary Dino’s top doubles team exemplifies the talent and drive present in the University of Manitoba Tennis Club (UMTC). As they battled against some of the nation’s top university talents, they inspired teammates and fellow university students.

Gurjosh Singh, representing the club as a number four seed, showcased his remarkable tenacity and skill, securing a point for the team with his decisive singles play to win against the Alberta Golden Bears. His grit, focus and determination reflect the spirit of the club. Jacob Yee, the third seed, had an outstanding tournament, demonstrating resilience by pushing his singles opponents to intense third-set tiebreaks, showcasing his potential for future success at the university level.

Beyond their recent accomplishments, Hlib, Magnus, and Jacob dedicate time in their schedules to give back and mentor tennis athletes of all levels. Through ongoing coaching, clinics and triple threat sessions, they share their valuable insights and experiences on technical skills and the mental resilience needed for high-level and university-level competitions. Their commitment to hard work, discipline, and embracing a positive mindset can resonate deeply with aspiring tennis athletes of all ages.
