Enjoying competition and camaraderie, Dawn Cyr (second from right in above photo) made the most of her time playing team tennis in the United States in 2015. The Winnipeg Winter Club member helped her team win the national title at the USTA League Adult 55 & Over 6.0 National Championships last October in Surprise, Arizona.

For Cyr and her teammates, they had to win on two of three doubles courts every match to advance to the next stage and ultimately capture the national championship. The journey started in April of 2015 when they won their county, Collier County (Naples, Florida). Next up was the sectional/State championship in Dayton Beach, Florida, where the team won six straight matches to advance to the national championship.

Cyr’s team represented Naples and the USTA Florida Section in Surprise, Arizona, winning six matches in three days. In the final, they beat a team from Seattle 3-0 to claim the national title.
