Tennis Manitoba will now use the Tournament Planner
program and tc.tournamentsoftware.com website to help
run sanctioned tournaments held in Manitoba.

Tennis players in Manitoba now have access to a new online entry and tournament publication system that will be used by Tennis Manitoba for future sanctioned tournaments. Tournament participants of the Tennis Manitoba Open Tour, which is a series of tournaments intended for adults at multiple skill levels, and the Junior Tour, are now encouraged to create an online account which will enable them to register for tournaments planned in 2013.

Tennis Canada recently began working with the provincial tennis associations across the country to upgrade their tournament management and ranking system. Selected technology partner Visual Reality (VR) is based in The Netherlands, and specializes in providing software for organizing sports events. VR’s tennis event expertise is extensive, as they have a collection of world and national tennis federation clients, including the International Tennis Federation, Tennis Europe, Lawn Tennis Association (UK), and Tennis Australia.

The new system will not only improve online tournament entry and payment for players in Manitoba, but will also help manage Tennis Manitoba’s member database. There are plans for a new rounds based provincial and national ranking system, which is expected to replace the existing head-to-head system later in 2013 or 2014. As well, those with iPhone or Android smartphones will be able to download an app in the near future to access their match times, tournament results, rankings, and head to head player competition details.

Registering online for a Tennis Manitoba player membership is easy — both technically and on the pocket book. Tennis Manitoba has waived its individual player membership fees for 2013, in an effort to encourage more participation in its adult and youth tournaments.
