Shane Nicholls captured the men’s Open event at the Tennis U Manitoba Finals, beating Evan Mancer 6-2, 6-2 at Deer Lodge Tennis Club. Nicholls advanced to the final with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Shawn Sophasath, while Mancer beat Vinh Nguyen 6-3, 6-1.
The win gave Nicholls his fourth Tennis Manitoba tournament title of 2016 after winning the WLTC Open in May, the Manitoba Clay Court Championships in June and the Manitoba Open in August (he also reached the Deer Lodge Classic final, losing to Kevin Kylar).
