Kevin Kylar reached the final of the $10,000 Alberta Open (August 23-26 in Edmonton) before losing 6-4, 6-2 to Riaan Dutoit. Kylar beat fellow Manitoban Shane Nicholls 6-2, 6-1 in the second round after Nicholls got past Ayush Gupta 6-2, 6-2.

Kylar was also a finalist in men’s doubles at the tournament. Kylar and partner Kevin Portmann lost the championship match 6-4, 5-7, 14-12 to the team of Tristan Gilbertson/Jakub Komar. Nicholls teamed up with Eric Yee, with the duo winning their first match before falling in the quarterfinals to the No. 1 seeded team of Riaan Dutoit/Andrew Ochotta 6-4, 6-3.
