Stephen Dubienski, the 2015 Manitoba Open champion, notched another title November 16. Dubienski won the men’s Open event at the Reflections Dental WWC Singles Classic with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Shane Nicholls a day after edging Alex Lesiuk 7-5, 7-6(6) in a three-hour semi-final. Nicholls advanced to the final with a 7-6, 6-4 triumph over Sean Lacap.

In the men’s 4.5 final, Shawn Sophasath of Portage la Prairie beat Rocky Klassen 6-1, 6-4. Sophasath didn’t lose a set on his path to the title, dropping just 19 games total in his five matches.

The men’s 3.5 final was an all-Altona matchup with Jeffrey Friesen beating Jason Froese 6-3, 6-0. Both Friesen and Froese reached the championship match by winning third-set super-tiebreaks in the semi-final round.

A total of 52 players competed in the tournament. Next up is the WWC Doubles Christmas Classic, December 15-20 at the Winnipeg Winter Club.
