Reece Carter of Manitoba captured the U18 girls’ doubles title with partner Annabelle Xu at the Roman Cup, held July 30-August 5 in Ottawa. Carter/Xu beat the No. 1 seeded team of Dharani Niroshan/Corina Spasojevic 8-6 in the final.
Carter placed fourth in U16 girls’ singles and was a quarterfinalist in U18 girls’ singles.
Also representing Manitoba at the Roman Cup was Stefan Barre, who won his opening match in U16 boys’ doubles with partner Artem Manov before losing in the second round. Barre lost 6-4, 6-3 to Tanner Bedard in U16 boys’ singles and fell 6-0, 6-0 to eventual finalist Pavle Milic in U18 boys’ singles.
