152 kids between Grade 4 and 5 from Seven Oak School Division came out to the Sport for Life Centre last week to play some tennis.

The Seven Oaks School Division Tennis Jamboree, which featured participants from five different schools, was sponsored by Tennis Manitoba and the Rogers Rookie Tour. It’s the second year in a row for the event, and this year, the players trained weeks prior to coming out. Tennis Manitoba assisted in providing instruction to all the players.

The students played six doubles matches against players from other schools. The games were played on badminton courts using low compression tennis balls. Play would begin after a two-shot rally. Scoring was done with single points and based on time, not score. When the tournament was all said and done, each player got to take home t-shirts and other prizes courtesy of Rogers.

For the past 20 years, Seven Oaks has participated in various TMB events.
