Kylie Waschuk of Manitoba has posted some big wins for her Grand Canyon University women’s tennis team. On January 20 in East Lansing, Michigan, Waschuk won the final singles match 6-3, 7-6 (3) over Ksenia Providokhina to give the GCU Lopes a 4-3 victory over the University of Detroit Mercy.

Waschuk, a senior at GCU, also played a pivotal role in her team’s two wins in California this past weekend. Tied 3-3 going into the final singles match against the University of California, Irvine on January 27, Waschuk beat Gillian Parker 6-7 (2), 7-5, 6-1 to give the Lopes a 4-3 win. The next day, Waschuk defeated Natalie Penner 7-5, 6-2 in GCU’s 5-2 victory over the University of California, Riverside.

GCU has now won three straight matches to improve to 4-2 on the season. Next up for the Lopes are matches against the University of San Diego (February 2) and the University of Arizona (February 3).
