The annual Winnipeg vs. Calgary Invitational Tournament returned this summer on June 28 in a spirited Davis Cup-style team format, bringing together passionate players and community pride. Each city was proudly represented with 23 players, with Winnipeg’s team selected from the Sargent Park Community Tennis Centre, and Calgary represented by the Calgary Filipino Tennis Club.
In a tightly contested competition, Calgary came out on top with 11 wins to Winnipeg’s 8, continuing their winning streak after hosting and winning last year’s edition as well. The event continues to foster strong inter-city tennis connections and friendly rivalry.
The Sargent Park Community group is already looking forward to a return trip to Calgary next summer as this meaningful tradition carries on.
