Team Prairies sent members from the U10 and U12 programs to Edmonton last week to take on Team Alberta in a friendly competition.

“It was a great event for the little ones as they do not often get to play players outside of this province. Overall the tournament was a good experience for everyone,” said Team Prairies coach Monika Popovic.

Seif Dhaoui was another provincial team coach that helped Team Prairies at the event.

“One of the most significant takeaways for me was the exposure our U10 players had to the best U12 players from both provinces. Witnessing the skills and achievements of those older kids can be a tremendous motivator. It sets a goal for our younger players to aspire to, which can only drive them to work harder and improve,” said Dhaoui.

“In terms of results, our U10 boys team (all MB players) performed exceptionally well. We dominated, winning 10 games and losing only two. This success underscores the talent within our group, especially in the U10 category. I believe it’s essential that we focus on nurturing and developing this talent further. These young players have immense potential, and we should ensure they have the opportunity to participate in events like this one as often as possible.”

Tennis Manitoba would like to thank all the coaches, players, and event organizers that made the weekend a success!
