Wheelchair players Jason Betker, Darrin Luke, James Bernus and Sam Unrau are training once a week with coach Alex Lesiuk at Taylor Tennis Club. This past summer, the four players worked with Lesiuk at Winnipeg Lawn Tennis Club. Bernus and Unrau competed at the National Wheelchair Tennis Championships, October 22-25 in Vancouver.
The only rule difference in wheelchair tennis is players are allowed two bounces. “The beauty of it is you can play an able-bodied player as much as you can a guy in a wheelchair,” said Luke.
