The 2025 Fischer Indoor Junior Nationals have officially come to a close and Manitoba players left their mark.
Local talent Natalina Zappia and Jacob Yee (pictured above in the middle ) took their skills to Toronto for the U18 event (March 29-April 5) and fought hard in all their matches against the country’s best junior players.
U14 action took place in Vancouver (March 31-April 6) with Winnipeggers Mariya Gedz and Kasbien Mikulsen impressing.
Gedz (pictured below) had a standout tournament, capturing the girls’
consolation title and earning the tournament’s Sportsmanship Award for her dedication, positivity, and respect throughout the week.
Mikulsen also made a strong showing, picking up a win in one of his group stage matches.
The U12 tournament was held in Calgary (March 22-29) with Amir Hashmi and Viggo Mikulsen — who won a pair of single matches — both making Manitoba proud.
The Fischer Indoor Junior Nationals slate was initially kicked off March 21-28 in Verdun, Que., with the U16 festivities. Jett Nguyen and Natalina Zappia were there to make sure Manitoba was well represented and they did an excellent job.
Tennis Manitoba would like to thank and congratulate all of our exceptional young athletes on their performances at nationals and for representing the Prairies with pride!
