Manitoba’s Reece Carter beat Hana Gamracy of Alberta 7-6(4), 7-5 to place seventh in girls’ singles at the U14 Indoor Rogers Junior Nationals, held April 2-8 in Vancouver. Carter went 4-0 in her round-robin group before losing in the quarterfinals of the Championship Flight to No. 1 seed Rachel Krzyzak of Ontario 7-6(4), 6-1. Paired with Alberta’s Mia Kupres, Carter reached the girls’ doubles semifinals before being defeated by the Quebec team of Juliette Begin/Annabelle Xu 6-4, 6-1.

In boys’ singles, Marcello Audino of Manitoba beat Quebec’s Hubert Theriault 6-2, 6-2 in the Flight #4 final. Audino, the Sportsmanship Award winner, earned victories over fellow Manitoban Stefan Barre (6-3, 6-0) and Alberta’s Arshjot Singh Bhatti (6-1, 6-0) before defeating Theriault. Barre beat William Preciado of Saskatchewan 6-1, 6-4 to place seventh in Flight #4.
