Manitoba players came home with three titles from the Riverside Junior Open, held May 26-28 in Saskatoon. Ben Mayes won the U12 boys’ singles round-robin with victories over Kayaan Tharani (6-2, 6-1) and David Preciado (3-6, 7-5, 6-3).

Stefan Barre captured two titles, beating Keegan Rice 6-2, 6-1 in the U14 boys’ singles final and claiming the U16 boys’ singles crown with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Joshua Saban (who beat Manitoban Sahand Marzban 6-4, 6-2 in the semifinals).

Marzban went 2-1 to place second in the U18 boys’ singles round-robin. Manitoban Adith Prematilake also competed in the event.

In U18 girls’ singles, Manitoba’s Ana Clara Gusmini lost to Mary Yowin 6-1, 6-2 and then beat Adlgessa Yowin 6-2, 6-2 to win the consolation side.
