Reece Carter and Stefan Barre are representing Manitoba at the U16 Rogers Outdoor Junior Nationals in Gatineau (August 18-23). Carter beat Anya Chavez of Saskatchewan 7-6, 6-3 in girls’ singles before losing to No. 5 seed Cadence Brace of Ontario 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 in the round of 16, dropping Carter to the consolation (where players compete for fifth place).

In girls’ doubles, Carter and partner Danielle Tuhten of BC beat Ava Ramsay (Nova Scotia)/Josie Usereau (Quebec) 6-0, 6-0 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Barre lost 6-1, 6-3 to Nicholas Hayton of BC in boys’ singles before falling 6-1, 6-1 to Quebec’s Alex Goyette in the consolation. The doubles team of Barre/Ryan Murray (Alberta) was edged 4-6, 6-4, 10-3 by Cade Nadeau (New Brunswick)/William Nickerson (Nova Scotia).
