Manitoba players won three titles at the Provincial Junior Open in Regina, held June 9-11 at Lakeshore Tennis Club. Reece Carter won the U18 girls’ singles, beating fellow Manitoban Monika Popovic 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 in the final. Elinor Shpunt captured the U14 girls’ singles title with a 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Teah Chavez. Ryan Carter won the U12 girls’ singles, beating Madelynn Ludwig in the final 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.

Manitoba was also represented in Regina by Daniel Mullins, Ben Mayes and James Kim. Mullins reached the final of U12 boys’ singles before losing 6-3, 6-3 to Keegan Rice, who beat Mayes 6-2, 6-0 in the semifinals. In U14 boys’ singles, Mullins lost in the quarterfinals to eventual champion William Preciado 2-6, 6-4, 10-2, while Mayes won the consolation side with a 6-0. 6-0 victory over Kayaan Tharani. Kim won the U18 boys’ singles consolation, beating Ivan Dobushovskyy 6-2, 6-4.
