Kylie Waschuk and her Grand Canyon University Lopes women’s tennis team reached the semifinals at the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) tournament before losing 4-3 to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) on April 28 in Mesa, Arizona. The Lopes, playing in their first ever WAC tennis conference tournament, advanced to the semifinals with a 4-1 win over Chicago State University.

Waschuk earned a victory in doubles with teammate Autum Prudhomme against UTRGV, the regular season champions and tournament’s No. 1 seed. A senior at GCU, Waschuk was nominated for GCU breakthrough student-athlete of the year.
