Reece Carter of Manitoba won three singles matches at the U16 Rogers Outdoor Junior Nationals in Gatineau (August 18-23) to finish in the 9-12 position. The 13-year-old Carter was edged in the consolation quarterfinals by No. 5 seed Marina Stakusic of Ontario 2-6, 6-3, 7-5. In girls’ doubles, Carter and partner Danielle Tuhten reached the semifinals before falling 6-0, 6-4 to the Quebec team of Mélodie Collard/Érica Di Battista.
At the U12 Rogers Outdoor Junior Nationals in Mont-Tremblant (August 21-27), Manitoba’s Noah Pe beat Finn Muller of Ontario in the Flight #4 semifinals 6-3, 6-0 before losing to Nova Scotia’s Mark Rainnie 6-0, 6-1.
