Reece Carter of Manitoba went 5-2 in singles play at the U14 Indoor Rogers Junior Nationals in Vancouver. After posting a 4-0 round-robin record, Carter lost in the quarterfinals of the Championship Flight to Martyna Ostrzygalo of Alberta 6-2, 5-7, 6-2. In the 5/8 playoff, Carter beat Cadence Brace of Ontario 7-6, 3-6, 3-0 ret. before falling to Ontario’s Dharani Niroshan 6-2, 7-6. In girls’ doubles, Carter reached the semifinals with partner Mia Kupres of Alberta before losing to Sarah Liu (Ontario)/Annabelle Xu (Quebec) 6-2, 7-5.

Also representing Team Prairies on the girls side were Fiona Mullins (MB) and Teah Chavez (SK). Chavez, who beat Mullins 6-2, 6-2, was edged in the Flight #2 consolation by Sarah L’Allier of Quebec 7-5, 6-4. Mullins lost in the Flight #3 consolation to Isabelle Zhu of BC 6-3, 6-2.

Competing for Team Prairies on the boys side were Daniel Mullins (MB) and Ben Mayes (MB). Mullins lost the 3/4 playoff game in Flight #4 to Emmett Potter of Alberta 6-0, 6-3. Mayes was defeated in the consolation of Flight #4 by Alberta’s Kaetan Mehta 6-0, 6-1. Team Prairies was coached by Manitoba’s Jared Connell.
