The Manitoba team of Maya Arksey/Reece Carter captured the girls’ U14 doubles title at the Roman Cup (National Junior Open Series) in Ottawa. Arksey/Carter beat the No. 1 seeds Arina Artemyeva/Kelly Norkor Dowouna 8-2 in the semifinals before beating the No. 2 seeded duo of Alexia Di Giulio/Karin Hamilton 8-2 in the championship match.
Carter also earned a big doubles victory earlier in July at the Stanley Park Open (National Junior Open Series) in Vancouver, Carter and partner Sabrina Alano won the girls’ U14 doubles title with a 7-5,0-6,10-5 over Chloe Suh Yoo/Leena Bennetto. Carter placed fourth in girls’ U14 singles at the tournament.
