Congratulations to Team Manitoba for their performance at the Birmingham National Wheelchair Tennis Championships, held October 27-30 in Vancouver! Representing the province at the tournament were James Bernus, Sam Unrau and Jason Betker. Bernus beat Unrau 7-6, 6-2 in the men’s Flight 3 singles final after beating Betker 6-2, 6-1 in the semifinals.
Bernus/Unrau teamed up for men’s doubles and lost in the first round 6-2, 6-2 to Bernard Lapointe (New Brunswick)/Jonathan Tremblay (Quebec). Betker paired with Vince Preap of BC and lost 6-4, 6-1 to the BC team of Ross Macdonald/Scott Patterson.
